Raw, ArtContex, The Minories

RAW is a comment on what it means to be human. Made up of 7 textile and mixed-media works featuring zips and visceral flesh-like forms, these represent past and present pains in our collective and personal lives. Hung from heavy chain that anchor (or perhaps restrict and tie) the pieces to the space, visitors are invited to pause and reflect. Cold hard ironmongery and chain contrast with the soft yielding flesh. Trailing entrails spill and unravel onto the floor reminiscent perhaps of fractured lives. Wounds and trailing lines punctuate the void.
