Mycelium

Mycelium is all about the threads which connect us to each other, to the things we consume, the waste we produce and the planet which we must cherish.
Made entirely from waste fruit and vegetable net bags, collected by the artist’s local community, veins of macrame yarn and cotton thread run through these, connecting the piece with the historic building. Web-like netting is in dialogue with flaking paint and visitor’s who’s growing vista of the network of sprawling pieces shifts and mutates as they walk along the galleried balcony. Net covered onions – some sprouting, act as anchors to the pieces, rooting the Mycelium to the ground. A small, blood-like sculpture transitions visitors to the next installation.
