MEAT - Museum of the Environment
Date
August 7th 2026 - February 2027
‘Meat’ invites us to think about our relationship to food, considering questions like do we eat meat? If and how we purchase it? Its implications for the environment and ultimately ourselves? Different cuts of meat may be united by all being meat, but our purchasing decisions can directly impact upon animal welfare and our environmental footprint.
Our relationship to food says a lot about our relationship to the environment and whether it is extractive or not, societal values and priorities. Using recycled textiles, ceramics and butcher’s shop paraphernalia, Meat playfully invites reflection upon extraction, commodification, consumption and our disconnect from the food that we eat.
